I No Longer Endorse the Use of SMS/MMS

Frustrated by the censorship imposed by carriers on unencrypted SMS/MMS, as they refuse to send messages containing links to websites outside mainland China, and even worse, eventually blocking my SMS/MMS function, I have decided to no longer endorse the use of SMS/MMS. SMS/MMS has long been the primary communication method for regular people who do not use free software instant messaging services like Matrix and Jabber. However, while SMS/MMS does not require non-free apps to use, the censorship and surveillance on SMS/MMS are no less than those on proprietary instant messaging services.

Why “czl92783719”? “cz” is the abbreviation of my full name Carter Zhang. “l” stands for “libre,” a French word meaning free as in freedom. “92783” is when the GNU Project was initialized, to be specific, September 27, 1983 (9/27/83). “719” is a historical legacy issue - July 19 was my originally planned date to start my newly set up devices libreated from nonfree software up, however due to some reasons, the plan was postponed.

LVM Partition Formatted as BTRFS Filesystem Resizing

Problem I want to shrink my LVM partition formatted as BTRFS filesystem by 60GB, and then using the free space to extend swap partition. Solution 1.Shrink the BTRFS volume:

btrfs filesystem resize -60G / Resize device id 1 (/dev/mapper/czl-czl–root) from 926.84GiB to 866.84GiB 2.Shrink the LVM volume:

lvresize -L-60GB /dev/czl/czl-root File system btrfs found on czl/czl-root. File system size (866.84 GiB) is equal to the requested size (866.84 GiB).

The Solution to the Dropping to a Shell Error When Booting From the Encrypted LVM

Problem After installing Debian GNU/Linux on the computer using encrypted LVM, the system could not boot and dropped to the initramfs shell. Disk Layout Main drive has a GUID Partition Table. /dev/sda1 is the biosgrub partition, /dev/sda2 is the partition for /boot and /dev/sda3 is the LUKS physical partition. Using /dev/sda3 a LVM volume group was created. The volume group contains two volumes, one for the swap, the other is used for /.
